County Kildare has a wealth of history and beautiful sites for any visitor.
Leixlip, or Léim an Bhradáin, in Irish is directly translated to “Salmon Leap”. This was the home to Arthur Guinness’s first brewery. Click to read a little history of our town.
Castletown House was Ireland’s first Mansion built in the Palladian style. We are proud to have this most beautiful Georgian Palace located minutes from the Leixlip Manor Hotel. The Parklands and House are worth visiting and events take place all year round. The old town of Celbridge is at the end of the main driveway at Castletown. It was the birthplace of Arthur Guinness, linking it and Leixlip to Arthurs Way.
Leixlip is located on the border of Kildare and Dublin, making us an ideal base to explore both cities. Dublin Zoo is 20 minutes from the hotel and Tayto Park is 30 minutes away. Newgrange is 35 minutes from the hotel so guests can explore centuries of Ireland’s Ancient East without having to move hotel.
For a bird’s eye view of Kildare, Wicklow, and Dublin, guests at Leixlip Manor Hotel have a great opportunity to take to the Skies. Our neighbours at Weston Airport offer fabulous tours. Click to read more about Scenic Tours at Weston Airport.
